Maybe weeks need to be heard before they can end. Maybe five minutes is enough.
That made me think about the Plus / Minus / Next experiment.
The question: What changes when I tie one small action to a few minutes of looking back, every week?
The hypothesis: if I do Plus / Minus / Next once a week, for five minutes, I make clearer next-week decisions and carry less guilt forward. Not because I become more analytical. Because the week, finally heard, can let go.
The signal: one PMN session done. One concrete Next decision acted on within 48 hours. By week three, the Sunday tightness sits lighter in the chest.
What you do for 7 days
- Pick a fixed time. Friday afternoon, or Sunday evening, or Monday morning. Same time each week.
- Three bullets each, five minutes total:
- No fixing the past. The Minus is named, not solved. Naming is enough.
- Next is one move, not a plan. One thing. Small enough to actually happen.
- Execute the Next within 48 hours. Otherwise it joins the carryover pile, and the experiment fails its own purpose.
What this experiment grows
It is not journaling. It is closing. Most weeks don't end; they fray into the next. The unfinished feeling isn't about unfinished work โ it's about the week never having been heard by you. Plus / Minus / Next is the smallest possible way to hear it. Three bullets. Five minutes. The week is named, and then it can go.
Maybe the Next matters less than the Plus and Minus. The Plus reminds the body what was real. The Minus sets down what got carried. The Next is just the move that proves the looking-back landed in the body and not only on the page.
